Added a few more pics of the briefing room. Now that we've seen it, what are your reactions?

  1. I watched it live on NBC. I like it. It's not a spectacular change but it's good. I don't mind the back-drop. The blue door and the white pillars look nice behind the podium.

I'm curious what the back-screens will look like with the illustrations they plan to exhibit.

And he pretty much confirmed that the pool is still there.

I'd imagine that most Americans will shrug, that not much seems different, but the point being that it was more about making it better for the press than the viewer.

  2. My problem with the new press room is that it resembles a Fox News set. I don't mind the screens behind the podium, but the pillars and the platform with the carpet full of stars is too flashy. I think most of the renovations were necessary to make working conditions better for the press, but the podium area should be more simplified and dignified.

  3. Well, then it looks like ANY news set.

  4. I'm underwhelmed in general. The fake columns are kind of tacky. I don't mind the screens, tho, and the seats are quite nice.

  5. I think the new look is too much. I liked the clean-cut classic press room look with the blue backing. Now they have even changed the White House seal behind the podium to a lighter blue. The pillars, doors and the whole look don't seem to match other areas of the West Wing in terms of quality.
