Kennedy renovation

Luke sent along a link to an interesting page on the Kennedy renovation, complete with scans of documents and photos of moving furniture. Unfortunately, it seems to be more of a teaser than an attempt to actually make the documents available on the Web. Few of the documents are readable.

  1. The folks at that website had better pay better attention to their captions. The photos certainly do not show the "fruits" of Jackie's restoration labors. There is no photo of any room completely finished. Plus, we would all recognize the color photo of the Green Room as one taken prior to the Truman reconstruction. (Note the positioning of the gold furniture and the absence of the antique commode under the mirror between the windows. This indicates pre-1952.) The photos (except for the Green Room) show JBK's restoration as it was getting started.

  2. I agree. Very sloppy. But I love the pics of Jackie in the pre done rooms.

I am in DC and took a morning stroll around White House. Got some good pics. Will do an eve stroll and get eve pics too.

Will be in Rose Garden Sat.

  3. Strange site - sloppy Green Room pic, as has been mentioned. Fun to see (or sort-of see, rather) the pic of Sister Parish and Albert Hadlay on the sofa together.

Looks like somebody took a bunch of pics with their Kodak Instamatic (remember the little square pictures?) Site would have been much more effective if the pics had been able to be enlarged.

    That's like totally bogus, man!

Have fun in DC Steven - and be sure to give us an update on the progress of the current Green Room renovation!
