Open post: Kisses for My President

I noticed a post on a political blog about a presidential movie I'd never heard of: 1964's Kisses for My President, starring Fred MacMurray and Polly Bergen. Oh, I'm gonna have to check that one out. And, by the way, has anyone seen The Brady Bunch in the White House? We really need a review of that for the movies page.

Meanwhile, check out the "White House" tag on IMDB.

  1. I suppose you don't want to know the ending. It's pretty stupid, especially the last line of the film.

  2. I remember "Kisses for My President", vaguely. The sets for the "Yellow Oval Room and the Oval Office were pretty good as I recall. Fred Mc Murray was First Lady. The First Rugrats tried to take advantage of their position, but the First Lady (Dad) put a stop to that.

Dinosaurs roamed the earth when I saw it, so that's all I really remember.

But hey - if Ronald Reagan can be president, then so can Polly Bergen. : )

  3. Wow! Funny you should mention this movie...it is waht actually ignited my lifelong love affair with the White House and First Families--it used to play on the 3:30 Movie right after school, I must have first seen it in 1968 or 69. It is a silly little movie, though the sets are all pretty authentic (love the scene used as the opening when the Chief Usher welcomes the family to the White House and the staff are all lined up in the Grand Hall).

I've actually been wondering if someone was going to put it on TMC or AMC as kind of a jab at how Bill Clinton won't act like Fred MacMurray!
