Added several images from the NYPL stereographs of the Blue Room from the 1860s, 1870s, and 1890s. You can see the changes in chandelier, sconces, and wall coverings over the decades.
These are wonderful photos of the Blue Room. However, I find the "colorized" version of the c1898 Blue Room highly suspect. I get the feeling the colorizers made those colors up. The yellow and pink in the frieze especially don't seem right.
Blogger has these periodic glitches. I've given up trying to figure it out. I've looked into switching over to Typepad or WordPress, but they seem to have similar complaints.
